Worked as statistician for the project on Evaluation of Second Participatory Livestock Development Project (PLDP –II) funded by ADB and executed by PKSF Bangladesh and wrote a report on it,  As Principal Investigator he worked on a project of income and repayment, food intake, nutritional status, changes professions and livelihoods of livestock based enterprises of the microfinance technical supports project funded by PKSF Bangladesh, at the same time worked as a Co-investigator for the project on “changing land use patterns and their impacts on food security for farm household in Bangladesh” funded by FAO. He has completed another FAO funded project as a Co-investigator and name of the project is “Farm level availability of rice and its losses: an assessment study for food policy options” started in 2008. In 2015, Prof. Rahman has completed a project “A Study on the Goat Value Chain Analysis in Selected Areas of Bangladesh” funded by Heifer International Bangladesh. Prof. Rahman completed some other projects entitled “Assessment of developing potential enterprises towards attaining food security of people in haor areas” funded by BAURES in 2016 and “Sustainable Economic Development of Chittagong Hill Tracts: Options for Poverty Alleviation and Food Security” funded by BARD in 2017. Worked as Team Leader of Baseline and End Line Survey of “Flood Response Project in Jamalpur” executed by Unnayan Sangha (US) Jamalpur in 2018. He completed a BAURES funded project as a PI entitled "Milk production by smallholder farmers in Mymensingh Region: Impact on livelihood, food and nutrition security" and completed a MoST project entitled, “Livestock and poultry rearing by smallholder farmers in haor areas in Bangladesh: Impact on food security and livelihood improvement”.
